Does anyone know of a tape or DVD on how to make them, and yes I do have all the books

Here's one by a guy that know something about bandsaws.

Here's a little preview of it: http://store.taunton.com/onlinestore/item/mastering-your-bandsaw-mark-duginske-061010.html

It covers more than just boxes I think.

Here is a video from YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DJcR11rUpdY The problem I find with it is, it's not narrated. And, I'm not a fan of the design although it is a work of art.

If you go to http://www.thewoodworkingchannel.com (http://www.thewoodworkingchannel.com/), click videos, and then navigate to The American Woodshop, there are two 30 minute long videos on making bandsawn jewelry boxes. Both are very nice IMO and modeled after historic furniture pieces.

I find Scott Philips to be very down to earth and he doesn't always use the most fancy tool or jig to get things done. He is just really good. ;)

although it is a work of art.

Sometimes it isn't just the end result that's art. The video was well done and watching the artist move the wood around on the bandsaw made me think of an ice skater.

I'm thinkin he's made that box once or twice before...

Robby,

I followed that link to the wrong place I guess. I could not find The American Woodshop. I did a Google search and found it but no videos, just info on where to find it on PBS.

Do you have a direct link to the two videos you referenced?

Thanks,
Jim

Unfortunately there is no direct link. Go to the above link, video, and then in the box where the video plays there is text that says "The Worlds Workshop" in a teal blue color. Just below that, there is a brown bar that has the following categories from left to right.

A woodworking experience
Intarsia & Marquetry
IWF
Lie Nielson Tools
Miscellaneous
The. . . and its cut off. Thats "The American Woodworker"

I attached a screenshot. . .

Scott Philips is indeed a great woodworker. But whenever I watch him, I keep expecting some guy in a leather jacket to come by, give Scott a wedgie, take his lunch money and stuff him into a locker.
