Last night, I was planing some oak and I noticed that the boards were not parallel. One side of the board was .015 thinner than the other (on a 6" wide board). It does it whether I lock the table or not.

For information:
I am using a 15" Grizzly with a spiral head (G0453Z, I think). It is 4 months old. I am a hobbyist and it is not used every day.

I did not have the time to figure it out last night. I intend to look into it tonight. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

I'm thinking that I should ( in this order)
1) Check the alignment of the table to the blades with a dial indicator

2) Rotate the bits for a fresh cutting edge

Hi Dave, as you suspected, it sounds like the bed isn't parallel to the cutterhead.

Check your manual for adjustment procedures, however on the four post planers often the table elevating screws are adjusted to make the bed and cutter parallel.

You may have loose sprockets on the elevating screws, loose chain, chain slipped, or cutterhead out of adjustment.

Regards, Rod.

P.S. Don't forget to check the adjustment of your bed rollers.
