Hi all, newbie here
I acquired an older Delta 14" open base bandsaw about 1 1/2yrs ago. I've changed the mtr from 1/2 to 3/4hp, added a segmented drive belt and replaced the rear and side blade guides, upper and lower. Also replaced the blade tension spring. Lastly I replaced the tires with a set purchased from Carter. There's the problem. The wheels measure .967" inside the flanges. The tires measure .838" wide, about a 1/8" difference. I'm currently running a 1/4" blade. So when going for best tension and tracking, the tires move across the face of the wheels randomly. Also the blade rubs in the vertical wood guide at the back frame. It seems like the O.D. of the wheels with these tires is too small? I remember the old, original tires I removed were thicker??
The upper and lower wheel brgs turn freely unloaded and don't appear to have appreciable wear.
I've looked thru the great Iturra Design book but didn't find this problem addressed?
Also, would anyone hazard a guess at it's age?
