What does anyone know about wood stabilization and dyeing wood? I was wondering if vacuum bagging wood with aniline dye would get the dye to permiate through the wood?

Paul / I have a great book by Jan Sanders on "Coloring Techniques for Woodturners" sold by Guild of Master Craftsman Publications Ltd.It is soft covered and sells here in Canada for $27.00 and $19.00 in US.She explains how to use bleach, paint and spin it etc. This is mainly for turning so if your doing boards etc I'm not sure if this is for you.

I've read that commercial operations use heat to soften the wood and pressure to drive the dye into the wood. I've been intending to try putting wood and dye into a pressure cooker to see what happens, but I haven't tried it yet.
