I am in the market for a new floor model oscillating spindle sander.
In the past, I have paid a premium and avoided China/Taiwan made
tools, but this time I am not willing to pay the price of admission
for the US made standard ($3K + for a MAX). Any recommendations on the choices out there in the $1K range: Steel City, Jet, Clayton, etc.

Thanks
dave

+1, get the Grizzly. I bought mine almost new from a custom speaker maker who was outsourcing their manufacturing to a cabinet company in the USA. I really like it it. I put it on a Woodcraft mobile base.

When not using it for spindle sanding I roll it being the bandsaw and use it as an outfeed table.

x2 on the Grizzly 1071. It's a very decent unit for the price, runs and runs and runs, relatively quiet, easy to setup and maintain, and the dust control is decent although you can improve it by adding a second dust hood.

I bought my Clayton used.........for less than half price. :D
Simple design and construction, excellent machine.

It was missing a couple of sleeves & table inserts, HTC (now owns Clayton) was excellent to deal with when ordering parts.

I bought a Clayton quite a few years ago. I've been happy with it and it's never give me any problems.
