This small box is from a piece of Koa my wife's brother brought me from Hawaii. The lid is also Koa, segmented from a pen blank. And the finial is also from a Koa pen blank. It's 5" round, 5.5" tall, danish oil and deft lacquer.

Beautiful little hollow form Curt! Great form! Really like the segmented lid - adds a lot to the piece! Love the finial! Once again - amazing work! Thanks for sharing!

Hey that is pretty dang nice ::):. With your danish oil, do you just flood it and let set? Or do you build up the finish with multiple coats? Thanks!

I'm too impatient to use danish oil as a finish. I just use it to pop out the color in the wood. I wipe it on with a paper towel, let it soak in for a few minutes and wipe it off. Then I spray it with lacquer.

Curt that is a beauty. I like the collar and form. Finial looks great. I will have to give the pen blank a try. Thanks for the info on using lacquer. I have always been afraid to use lacquer over danish oil, antique oil, etc.

That is really nice Curt! But wouldn't it be more fun to go to Hawaii yourself to get the wood? :D:rolleyes:
