View Full Version : Problem with PC8529 Plunge Router

Hi all...my PC8529 plunge router developed a problem today. I'd been using it to route a bunch of mortises and then was switching setups and bits to route some grooves.

Anyhow, when I started to adjust the bit depth I noticed that the plunge mechanism wasn't locking! Major bummer.

It seems as though when I release the plunge lock lever, which should result in the router height being locked, there is no resistance at all and nothing is clamping to the plunge column. I can't figure out what could have caused this. I don't see any set screws or other mechanism that could adjust the clamping pressure on the column...maybe it is there but I'm having trouble finding it.

If anyone else can help diagnose this problem, please let me know! I need to do some more work and don't want to buy a new router.

Thanks in advance!
