I have an OLD Universal Laser (M20!). My 1.5 lens is usable but cracked and I expect it to get worse. Also the yellow mirror part is corroded. To replace them with new is much more money than I want to spend.

Anybody know where I can get these parts for a lot less or If you have parts to sell please contact me off list or PM me.

C, ULS prices on laser optics have gotten fairly reasonable in the last few years. I think you can buy a new 1.5" fl lens, mounted in it's aluminum holder for ~ $ 250. I believe their corner mirrors are less than $ 100.

Be careful of some of the optics suppliers out there. I seem to remember some Sawmill Creek members complaining about the optics they received with their imported machines from China. If you buy from an established optics supplier, you should not have any problems. But I don't know if you will save enough on two or three items to make it worth your while to find an alternative supplier.

Let us know how you did.

Hi C,

I bet my ULS is older than yours. :) Built in 1992 running under win3.1 and Corel 5.

About 8 years back a friend used these people. They are still in business so gotta be some sort of good sign. Very good prices.

The one important thing to keep in mind is you can buy the optics cheaper but the optics suppliers do not include the mounting or holding brackets. Unless you know how to re-mount the optics into there holders you will have a difficult time and risk damaging the new optic. At that point it would have cost you a lot more than buying them already mounted.

C. The cost for the lens in the bracket is $230.00 and for the # 2 mirror is $75.00. The one thing to caution you about is the #2 Mirror holder you must be very careful with removing the old optic from that holder, It is very easy to damage that holder and then you must replace the entire mirror holder.

We might have a good used 1.5" lens for that system Let me look and I will let you know.

Edmund Optics has okay pricing for ZnSe optics, though if ULS is truly in the $200 range for replacements with the aluminum holder that may be a better deal.
