I have located a Powermatic Lathe - model 45. Anyone have one of these? Any good/bad things I should know about?

It has a 3 Phase Baldor motor.

The PM 45 is an older lathe from when things were built to last. If in good condition it should perform well. Make sure to check bearings. Hopefully it has the tailstock, banjo, toolrest and some other goodies included. More info can probably be found on the Old WoodWorknig Machines website ( www.owwm.com (http://www.owwm.com) )

I have one. (Also have a new PM # 3520 b) It's a solid built machine. That said I feel it's better suited to spindle work. It's slowest speed on mine is around 400 rpm. I like to start out a little slower on roughing bowls. Guess it all depends on what you want to turn.
