Anyone have a source for a 5/16 cutter for a Stanley No. 48? I think the cutter for the No 45 may be interchangeable. Checked the usual places eBay, etc. and no luck so far. Thanks

I think St. James Bay Tool Company may sell them. They seem to have been having some trouble with their website recently, and I couldn't get it to come up tonight - but google "St. James Bay Tool Company," and you'll be able to find phone number information.

Their prices are generally pretty reasonable.

Stanley still sells them. I bought a set and they seem fine to me.

Thanks Bill and Pete. I emailed Stanley before posting and they emailed back saying they couldn't help as they no longer make the #48. I think they may have been a little quick to answer, by the looks of the set Pete linked, something should fit. I also looked around a little more in the Stanley site and found a 5/16 plough cutter P/N 12-368-1_02-A-20 http://www.stanleytoolparts.com/12-368-1-02-a-10.html (http://www.stanleytoolparts.com/12-368-1-02-a-10.html) that may do it but they don’t reference the thickness or length. Pete, did you buy the whole set just for the 5/16 cutter, are you using it in a No. 48, and is it stamped with P/N 12-368?
Thanks again.

I boughht the whole set just because I needed some cutters for a 45 I picked up without any. I thought you had said you needed them for a 45 instead of a 48 which I read you are looking for now, so I am not positive they will work, but it is a good possibility.
