Just got permission from my mom for the money,
just got permission from my dad for the space,
Looks like i'll be getting a Nova 1624-44
I'll have to sell the old grizzly, made only for spindles really 12"xabout40" capacity, three speeds, drum, disk, and flap sander attachments, copy attachment, we may dismantle and hold onto it it's still up in the air

the homemade lathe i'll hold off until summertime

but the important thing:

I'M GETTING A NEW LATHE!!!!

It's been on my mind and i've been afraid of being turned down,
the answer from my mother was I'd rather see you spend it on something useful like this instead of crap.

I'll be able to some larger stuff now. The rikon mini just doesn't cut it at times

Andrew, for comparison purposes, since I own a cat, sorry a cat owns me.......Just how happy is a dog with two tails?

Congratulations on the lathe, this spinny thing vortex is a slipperry slope, once you're on it, it's like being assimilated by the Borg, resistance is futile.......Rod.

Congratulations! I know the feeling. Though for me it is more about asking the LOML rather than the parents. But the basic issue is the same. Grats on the new lathe. Be sure to keep the photo's coming!

Andrew, that's absolutely GREAT!! :D
Good folks, yours. :)
Turn something really nice... finish it to the nth degree... show it to your Mom... and when she says, "Why, Andrew, that is just adorable!" You say, "It's for you, Mom." Then turn your Dad something nice, also.
Good going, young man. It's good to see someone your age doing constructive work. Dog with two tails... that's rich! :D
