You can help me out with the type of wood... spalted something.
Most of the bark was gone before turning, but the rest stayed in place.

Your helpful critiques are always welcome.

Measures 7"x3". Sanded to 600, paste wax finish.

Looks good. Can't really tell what kind of wood it is.

Your back round really does not help to show your bowl.

The bowl looks good. The wood has a lot of character (I can't help with wood ID).
I would prefer a different bottom treatment, either smoothly rounded with no foot or with a defined foot. There are a lot of opinions about bowl bottoms, it is something all turners look at. Most non-turners don't care about the bottom at all.

Great looking bowl but is hare to tell about the wood. Well done Ben.

No idea of the kind of wood Ben but you sure did a nice job of highlighting all that it has to offer! Keep up the good work!

The pattern in the wood (not the spalting) on the near side of the bowl in the picture of the bottom makes me think it's maple. The fact that you're in PA would help to support that.
I wouldn't bet more than a cup of coffee on it though.

It is the rarest of all woods, commonly known as "mystery" wood. Looks good Ben, keep them coming!
