I'm hoping one of you guys can point me in the right direction...

I'm looking for a company that supplies little "keyhole" inserts used for mounting things to a wall.

They're about 1/2" in diameter and maybe a 1/4" thick with a standard "keyhole" shape in them. You basically drill a 1/2" hole in your frame with a forstner(sp) bit, stuff one of these in the hole and you're done.

Any idea where I can get these?

tnx!

I've never done business with these folks, but they seem to advertise what you are looking for. Keyhole hanger (http://www.govart.com/hardware_spechang_C.html)

They also make a keyhole router bit that you can use to make your own keyhole slots in the back of things to hang them.

Something like this (http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showpost.php?p=432010&postcount=13)? Your local hardware store should have them.

Thanks for the link Lee. Unfortunately, that's not what I'm after.

The insert I'm looking for is made of plastic and is perfectly round. I need to use them in order to hang some lettering on a wall.

The existing "words" use this hanging system so I have to use the same part.

Got any pictures, Gene?

Nope. The insert is a press-in and is flush with the material when it's installed. You just drill a 1/2" hole with a forstner bit and press it into the hole.

tnx!

The round ones shown in the first link are just about exactly what I'm after, except they're press-in, not screw in and it's only 1/2" in diameter, not 1-1/4".

tnx!

An interesting challenge. I Googled around and found this (http://www.mandhservices.co.uk/plaque.htm), you might contact them to see if that's what you are looking for and who their supplier is. The other place to look would be suppliers for picture frames, or you could ask at a forum for people who hang pictures.

I think what I'd do is to go ahead and use one of those keyhole router bits to put the key holes directly into the letters.

Good luck.

If I didn't have to have these perfect every time, I would use a keyhole router bit.

tnx.

Unfortunately, those are like the others - they're just metal plates with screw holes. The part I'm after is basically a 1/2" diameter insert that is strictly a press-fit device.
