Hi,
I just got the BenchDog ProTop Contractor Benchtop router table, and in their list of routers that the table is "pre-drilled" for, the Triton MOF001KC 2 1/4 HP router is NOT one of them. I would like to use this router because it got great reviews on Amazon, and you can adjust the bit height from above the table. I spoke with BenchDog customer service and they suggested that any new router mounting holes I drill may conflict/overlap with existing holes. I don't want to screw up my new table. Has anyone used this combination of BenchDog ProTop Contractor and the Triton? Any other suggestions for routers that can be adjusted from above the table?

The list of BenchDog "acceptable" routers is at the bottom of this page:

Thanks!
Matt

Hello,
Try Rockler.
IIRC, Rockler just bought Benchdog and went with the Benchdog format for router tables/router plates.
(Quick check - http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=21299&filter=router%20table - they list the MOF001)

The new size for Rockler plates is 8-1/4" x 11-3/4" - much to my chagrin.
I just finished my router table using the Rockler #1 top - and now i'm stuck with the older- smaller plate.

I've got that Triton in my Benchdog--mine's one of the TS extension wing mounts. My recollection was that the hole pattern on the Triton matched the Porter Cable or something. Check Triton's website--I think I found their compatibility guide there and it has the Triton listed.

Bench Dog sells a plate without any holes in it. You drill your own. I'm surprised they didn't tell you that.

the triton holes mount in the porter cable holes on my leigh mortise jig, but i have to turn it about 30 degrees to one side. should be able to do the same on a router table i would think.

I went back to Bench Dog's site--look in the catalog, p.14:

http://www.benchdog.com/images/BenchDog08.pdf

Shows the Triton routers as "Group 1" plate. Like I said, mine worked fine with the stock plate.

I have this table and like it. I have a cheapo 3HP Chicago router in it. I had to get a plate and drill it myself. Only cost about $30 at Amazon. IMO this is a nice table. I just open up the door and use the plunge stop to set the height on mine and it works fine. Upside down it is just like a fine adjust height control.

I believe the Hitachi 3HP routers let you set the height without a lift from above the table if you're considering a different router.
