View Full Version : Vase w/collar a 1st

Yep, you guessed more Spalted Maple. This is my first ... what I would call a vase HF. With this I tried a collar out... don't know if I went through the best process of making one... but it came out okay. This is 5 1/2" high and 4 3/4" in diameter. I did much better in keeping the thickness this time at 1/4", but then again I wasn't fearing a blow out.

You're working with some magnificent wood. Great wood or not, it would just be firewood if you hadn't done a great job with the form and finish of the hollow form. Great job!

The spalting really matches the collar and sets this Hollow form off. I like all the color contrasts also. Very very nice HF. Well done.

Jon, that a very nice piece! Now, have the LOYL take it to work and see if someone makes a decent offer. You might have to start stocking a local gallery!!
