I got a Flowering Cherry log for free from Craigslist to mill. Not good wood for rot resistance, but is hard as a nail. The chainsaw earned its pay. This is the first project. It had been on the ground for a year or more according to the homeowner so has a lot of dead to be cut away.
I was just slicing the top till I hit good wood. Being a penny pincher I didn't want to waste all of it so I outlined the good wood and went to work. Unfortunately I had to glue up individual pieces so it took forreevvveerrr.
You can see how I planed it with the router and 1/4" endmill.(Biggest bit I have that leaves a flat surface-which also took a while)
Also, the lighting sucks in my house so the color doesn't do it justice, but you can see the wild grain very well.
