Hi all,
I have not been here lately and I wanted to update the creek on the table project. I have posted about it before but if you are not aware of it details are here http://www.westernpatableproject.org/Home.html
In a nutshell many volunteer woodworkers are making dining room tables and benches for Katrina survivors. There is still a huge need even after 3 years. I just made a trip there to deliver benches and I was shocked at the lack of progress in rebuilding.
So To date we have made and delivered 100 tables and 100 benches. The 2nd build is about to start. We have another 80 table "kits" about to be given out to volunteers to be built.
It is amazing. We have had inquiries about this project from as far away as Hati. How they found out about it we do not know.
This project is great for woodworking. It has gotten together old experienced woodworkers with young nonwoodworkers and expanded the craft.
