Sure glad that I was watching DIY when they aired the pgm about making mandolins. I saw the finger plane in action and asked about it on this forum. I got one and tried it yesterday. It's an Ibex. That little plane really removes the wood and is really controllable. I got the flat version. It's bronze and seems very-well made.

Was that "Handmade Music"? I saw it for the first time the other night; it was the last episode in the 3 part "making the mandolin" series. Utterly fascinating.

Yep, Mike, that's what it was. I thought there were only 2 episodes so I missed the middle one. Now that guy was a real craftsman. It was a pleasure to watch him work. What talent!
