Hi all,

My 11 year old son Alex is an avid pen turner and he had a school project that I wanted to share with you. He made this video about pen making (with a twist). He shot and edited all the video himself, which was a rule of the project. Alex has been making and selling pens since February to save money for his college education.

Sorry for the small size of the clip, the original is over 300 meg and 5 minutes long so we had to mega-compress it.

The video was really great. I see an "A+" grade coming your son's way. I have 4 kids in college all at the same time right now and I can tell you that it will be a blessing seeing your son's savings grow from this project. Tell him great job!

Your son's video was very good. I've not seen such a clear illustration of how to make a Celtic Knot before. He should do well in college.

That's an awesome video! Has Alex done other editing before this? Certainly better than I could have put together!

Also, nice shop =D

Alex has been into video much longer than he has been into pen turning. He started several years ago on Windows Movie Maker and graduated to Adobe Premier Elements last year. This was his first try with Adobe Premier Pro CS3. he has edited some of his brother's skateboarding videos in the past but this was his first beginning-to-end project.

George:
How proud you must be of Alex! Tell him what he has learned will serve him well no matter what he does in life. My son is a freshman in college majoring in engineering and he got his start in my shop which by the way is lot smaller and more cluttered than yours. Good job dad, and great job Alex!

George, your wife is probably having to sew buttons on your shirt all the time. That is amazing! The video, the pen, and the age of Alex! Like Wayne, I now know how to make a Celtic Knot. :)
I would say that Alex, will be a success in just about anything he tries! Congratulations to Alex, and to you.
PS: What kind of price does he get for his pens? You can email me with this answer if you don't want to post it here. amneighborsATsbcglobal.net

Am I the only one that's jealous of the tool selection?

I've read about doing a celtic knot before, but never seen it in application - as they say, a picture tells a thousand words, and I will put it to use. Please pass on to your son it was an outstanding tutorial!
