I was at woodcraft store in Lexington, KY today turning on this big oak burl that came from my cousin's farm in MO. Man what a job getting it up on the lathe and keeping the lathe from walking out the door. I could only turn it at 125 RPM and thats after I put 360 LPS of sand on 2x6's on the bottom of the lathe. I will have at least two more days to get it finished.

What are you making, Rex, a table? Be sure to show us the finished product.

Are you related to Steve Schlumpf/ Just curious. you can eat off the floor of his shop most days too. Kidding aside, that is an awesome lump of wood, and we can't wait to see the finished piece. :):):)

That's a real nice hunk of wood. Should be a fun adventure. I've used the dropped extension bed on my 3520 a few times, but I did notice the tool rest was more vibration prone when using the extension. Are you seeing the same thing?

Yes I see the same thing, I guess because it's so much taller. I am having trouble reaching the outer edge. But it's going better. I'll keep posting pics through the progress.
