I've been asked by a friend to build a keepsake box out of wood that has a maritime related history. The more remarkable the maritime-historical nexus, the beter. Something like planks from an old ship, or mahogony/teak trim. Box will be something like 8"x8"x4"

Any suggestions on sources for wood with such a pedigree?

See if you have a marine salvage company in your area. They should have plenty of teak.

Another source may be:

They have some amazing stuff. I can't say I seen many maritime items but I wasn't really looking for them when in their warehouse.
