These are both cherry with walnut celtic knots. The one on the left is 6.5" x 1.75" with a walnut base to make it a little taller. The right one is 6" x 1.75". The left knot is cut on a 22.5 degree angle, the right is 31.62 degrees (there's a stop on my miter saw at that angle for reasons unknown to me). Just curious if you have a preference for the tighter or looser style knot.
Thanks for looking.

Curt,

They're both great. I think the knot @ 22.5 degrees looks a little better, probably because its tighter.

Look good, Curt! Personally, I prefer the looser knot. I think I used 30° on the one I made.

Take care

Very nice goblets Curt! I like both of them but find I am drawn to the 22.5* ring a little more than the 31.6*. I think it pulls my eyes to see more of a band instead of having to view the entire goblet to see the rings - if that makes any sense.

Also, I think I prefer the stem on the goblet with the walnut base. I think it's the curve that appeals to me and just looks like it would fit better in the hand.

What did you use for a finish as they both have a soft luster?

Both look great Curt. I do like the 22.5 deg better.

I like them both, but I definitely prefer the tighter knot.

Hard to decide they are both so nice, but I would go with the tighter rings if I had to make a choice.

the right is 31.62 degrees (there's a stop on my miter saw at that angle for reasons unknown to me).

You made me curious, so I did some digging. Short answer: "the preset 31.62° indent on the miter gauge of chop saws is to facilitate cutting crown molding laid flat on its back on the saw table"

Wow, I learned something today! :p

Both look good but I think I prefer the knot on the first one but I like the flowing shape of the second one.

I would take either.

That's true but only use it for outside corners. Inside corners should be coped for a tight fit.

i am not really a lover of wood goblets but these are very interesting and the one with the dark base is pretty... thanks for sharing...

Not to be a contrarian, but I find the celtic knot on the right more pleasing. The openness of the knot is more in keeping with the traditional style of the celtic knot and I think it is easier to appreciate the complexity of the knot if it is more open. But, that is just my opinion.

Both goblets are very good. I like the shape of the one on the left, but like the more open knot on the right.
