Here are some information sources that have been useful to me as I have learned how to make chairs. Since you asked about plans you might be especially interested in the book by Handberg (available from Amazon) and the article by Conover (available to subscribers from FWW.com). My first chair was from Miller's book.

I will post some notes on getting started in making chairs on my website: http://cdhepler38.home.comcast.net/~cdhepler38 (http://cdhepler38.home.comcast.net/%7Ecdhepler38)
