This is one of those pieces you turn that you wish you would have turned the wood over and made the bottom be the top. It's Ponderosa Pine with a few knots and some gray fungus working its way into the wood. About 6" x 3.5" with some danish oil to bring out the color and then lacquered.

But the bottom had this neat alien looking face in it that I wish was on the top.

Curt - I like the orientation that you have. The grain runs through the oil lamp and draws your eyes to it. If the piece had been turned with the alien face showing - I actually think it would not have worked as well. Good looking wood!

I like this very much. The wood has a depth and character I did not believe possible with ponderosa pine. It accepts the fine details you added very well. Looks like it must be much more expensive wood. Thanks for sharing.
