At the fall Grizzly tent sale I was able to pick up Byrd Shelix Cutterheads for my 8” jointer and 20” planner. The 8” was a Demo $200, and the 20” needed a 6mm hole drilled and tapped in the end $400, wow both heads for ˝ price. I didn’t want to gloat till I got them installed and running. Drilling and tapping was not a problem as I also have a small machine shop here at home. Install went smooth no damage to machines or self. All the reviews are right on; the cuts are amazing and so quite I can hear the chip going down the duct pipe. The other benefit not mentioned before is the chips are smaller and pack in the collection drum, now I don’t have to empty it as often. I do need to get a high level sensor installed before it over fills and clogs the filters, over an hour clean out job……………don’t ask me how I know.
