Hi All, I want to mount a Porter Cable type template guide to this router but the Bosch base plate is of course the wrong type for this. Where can a get a Porter Cable base plate to fit this Bosch? I've looked around online and can't find it. Also any suggestions about centering a new baseplate would be appreciated. Thanks. Alan

Pat warner http://patwarner.com/round_subbase.html sells router bases that should work. My Bosch came with a centering cone, so if yours did not I am sure you could buy a replacement.

I have this Bosch guide bushing set:

http://http://www.amazon.com/Bosch-RA1125-7-Piece-Router-Template/dp/B000063XTX/ref=pd_bbs_sr_3?ie=UTF8&s=hi&qid=1222799021&sr=8-3

If you need to it has an adapter for the P-C bushings.

Oh come on! You are a woodworker and you can't make a router base? It is faster to make one then to order it.

If you're looking to adapt the PC guide bushings to the Bosch 1617 then this is what you are looking for

A second vote for Pat Warner's sub base. I've bought one for each of my Bosch 1617s exactly for the reason of using the PC guide bushings. Pat's bases have the added feature of being clear so you can more easily see what you are doing.

I don't understand, when I bought my Bosch router it came with the adaptor.
It is the RA1100 Threaded Router Template Guide.

This is all you need.

If you do not have one I would say you need to get on and that is a centering cone for the router, if the base is not centered with the router and you put the bushing on the bit could rub the bushing.

One more vote for the bosch PC template adapter. It holds the PC bushings, and the bosch template guides aren't bad either. The Pat Warner option seems like the way to go if you are set against the bosch adapter for some reason. my router came bundled with it, so that's what I use.

Thanks all. I'll get the template adaptor which wasn't supplied with my router. I bought it when it first came out and my manual lists it as optional. Any suggestions on centering the base?

I bought Pat Warner's clear baseplates for my 1617, including the offset one and like them. They are sturdy and center perfectly. The brass PC template guides just go through the hole and you screw the retaining ring onto it. I have found the Whiteside ones sold by Woodcraft (and others) are reasonably accurate and work well. Alternatively, for my Akeda dovetail jig, I buy from the Akeda site because the tolerances are unforgiving. Although I have the complete Bosch template set, I rarely use it after I got Pat's baseplates. IMO, the see through plate with PC templates, are the only way to go.

I have a centering cone that works really well. I go it with a set of bushing form Rockler.
