Here are couple bowls that my High school students just finished. The first one is from locust burl. It is 9" Dia. by 6" tall. The second is from maple burl that was to far gone to work with almost. We soaked it in lacquer for a week to firm it up. It still smells like lacquer a week after coming out.

Jack - those are two exceptionally nice turnings! Be sure to let your students know they did a great job! Can't believe they are this good already and the school year is just starting! Looking forward to seeing more work from your class!

Jack:

Those are truly beautiful - glad to hear the kids are offered woodshop in high school. Many schools have dropped it even with our ever increasing taxes.

Jack,

If a white-headed, going bald, overweight guy shows up in your class with the first name Ken........It's me. Don't act surprised!

Tell your students those are gorgeous. I should turn something so beautiful!

Absolutely Gorgeous!

Those are great bowls. Your students have a fine teacher. Make sure they know that what they are doing is great. I too am glad that school shop is still around in some areas. Our school does not teach shop anymore.
