I've been using a normal spray bottle for years while sharpening on stones. The same one that you'd get with any normal housekeeping chemical.

However, I've seen a different bottle used on several occasions. It has a pump on top to create pressure. As a reference, Chris Schwartz has one set on the side in his Coarse Medium Fine dvd and Shapton has a guy demoing a lapping plate, and he has a similar bottle that he uses:

(you don't even need to watch the video - you can see it in the starting frame)

I like the idea of being able to simply pressurize the bottle and then controlling the spray.

Can anyone point me to a source of this type of bottle?

Brand doesn't matter. He does use this one, however:

How do I know? We use the same one from Ace Hardware. Surprised me the first time I saw him in person at a Woodcraft demo.

Any hardware store or big box store will have a presurized sprayer.

Take care, Mike

Yes! That is very common item in a larger store. You find them in the garden department with the watering cans and pump sprayers.

ace also sells an import brand, which is motorized, no pumping, works great... $12
