Good morning! This gloat is a little delayed, but still a goodie.

Here is my new Fluke 62 Mini IR thermometer. Many might be wondering what I may be using this for and most of you will be wrong in your assumptions.

I use it to monitor the temperature of melted chocolate as I stir it to a good temper. Well tempered chocolate allows me to make wonderful boxes and truffles like these from my chocolate and confectionery arts class.

Pretty cool, huh?

I can figure out just about anything given enough time.... but how you get the truffles mounted in the lathe has me stumped. I've tried this and....

Do you freeze them first?

I'll be really impressed when I see dovetails on one of those boxes.
Seriously that is awesome.

I have no way of knowing whether this is cool or not, until you send me a couple boxes of those truffles for a test taste. :D: Then I'll know if is is as cool as it looks!

Dan

I'm only an hour away, so I think I should come down and sample, er, inspect those truffles to make sure you have a proper calibration on that gun. Might need a few to do some double blind tests. Say 3 or 4 dozen.:p,;)

They look great Dan.

I use mine to check the temp. of my pizza stone ( and once in a while I search more cold spots on the ceilings and walls )

Well, you were right. I'd have guessed wrong.
