ive been building alot of storm and screen doors lately. materials used are spanish cedar (which i prefer, but getting harder to find around my area),poplar(for doors which do not get much exposure to water) and the last one out of western red cedar(just basic 2x stock, which im alittle worried about)
my question is what do others use and why (stability, better for stain, better just to paint, cost and any other reason to use),also any standard dimensions used. i use 4 in. stiles,4 in. top rail.,5 in. middle rail, 7 in. bottom rail. 1 1/8 to 1 1/2 thick. i also do mortise and tenon with 2 in. tenon. let me know what ya think
