Howy,

mostly a lurker, but find my self in need. Jet 1642 chucks are set up for 1-1/4 -8 and just purchased jet 1220. I believe it has 1"-8 threads. Need adapter so as not to purchase more chucks. PenState did not seem to have one. Any ideas would be appreciated.

sorry for so much lurking. There is just so much good stuff on here and every one is so helpful to one another. Been turning off and on since 1973.

Amazon sells the Jet version (Jet No. 709948), but at a current price of $62.73 it's a bit more expensive than some of the others. Link - http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=Jet+709948&x=13&y=20

Louis:
You are no longer a lurker. Ask and this forum will deliver. I found a PSI spindle adaptor at PSI for $19.95 1-1/4 X 8 tpi Headstock Spindle Adapter (http://www.pennstateind.com/store/LA11418.html)
Item #: LA11418. I hope this will work for you. It appears to be in stock.
I own one that is just reverse of this one, it moves me up to 1 1/4" from the 1" and I have been very pleased.
All the best.

Howdy,

Thanks everyone thanks so much. I would have joined long time ago but I dont have credit card. Kind of before my time. Guess I'm showing my age. just never did get involved with one. About the only way I have of paying things is with cash or personal check. Most of internet places will still take my check once it clears. Most of my busines in done on my word or someone else's. About the only thing I can't buy is land and the bank creats a check that satisfy's seems to everyone.

My stuff stacks up until the next church auctions or empty bowls. Most folks seem to enjoy it. I mostly turn for thinking, you know thinking is important. Solved some of my toughest problems while turning. The old man that taught me was about the age I am now. He told me you have a small bit of tallent go out and share it with the world.

Thanks again.

You know something Louis? It is coming full circle. I have only used a credit card for years except for nickle and dime stuff. Got lotsa air miles too that I can never use. With the mess that our elected officials allowed to happen, cash will once again be king. Our credit limits were just cut in half thanks to our wonderful government. And I blame both parties for this. You think they would have learned from the early 80's. It's time for serious change. In retrospect, think about the Amish. If it all comes crashing down, life will go on for them without a hitch. Maybe we need to go back to a more simple lifestyle. That's why I am going back to woodworking... to keep my head straight. And yes, at 60 years old, I know how to live off the grid and produce all my own food. I really feel for those who can't or won't.
