Hello All,

OK. Call me all the funny names associated with the inexperienced, I can take it......

I have inherited a few woodworking tools from my late grandfather and wanted to carry on the tradition... I have never had to adjust/ replace a bandsaw blade and it is proving difficult.

I do not have any instruction manuals for my saw and was hoping some one would walk me through the process with this saw (Jet JBS-14MW).

Here is the process I have followed:

1. Set the blade approx centered on the drive and guide wheels.
2. Manually rotate to ensure blade is approx aligned
3. tension the blade until about 1/4 inch of tension knob spring is compressed. Not sure that is right?
4. Turn the knob which adjusts guide wheel all the way out. (this is where the blade rides centered on my saw I think). Not sure that is right?
5. Turn on the saw and watch the rubber rings on the drive wheel start coming off... Then the blade---- Yeah

Let me know where I am going wrong?

Thanks in advance,

David

I think you have it down, what you really need is to by some new tires.

$24 a set and I think you will be ready to go.

There are some good books out there on tuning a bandsaw. This is the one I have it its a very good book.

I see many references to The Bandsaw Book, and plan to look at it soon. If you can stand a used copy, Half.com has them as low as around $10 shipped.
