Does anyone know if autoclavable plastic can be laser engraved (without causing health hazards) and where I can get some?

Two that I know of are polypropylene and polycarbonate, both are safe to laser and readily available at local plastic suppliers. I have made parts for test tube holders used in the medical industry with 1/4" polycarbonate, but it's nasty to work with. I never tried using polypropylene.

Polypropylene is even nastier. It wants to heal itself and air assist helps to "blow" melted material out of the kerf.
