Hello Creekers.
Here's a crappy photo that shows every little scratch on this piece. Looks MUCH better in real life.

I have to be honest and say I don't know what a tenique is, but that little plate looks good Brian.

That's my bad smellin. I mean spellin.
And the post posted before I wanted it to too.
I'm sure others have done this.
I masked with the green laser tape from the tape place in Wisconsin that I can never remember the name of. Ino Tape?
I lased the design.
I sandblasted to get to the bare metal.
I used an oxidizer to get the black mark.
And lastly, I cleaned off the mask.

Ohhh..you meant Technique!...gotcha. Say, that looks pretty good. Must be aluminum if you used oxidizer fluid. I have used it on aluminum based plates that I engraved with my Vision engraver (mechanical) but have never tried on lasered. Does oxidizer fluid work on anything else besides aluminum?

Larry,
It's brass!
Worked a treat. It's a little time consuming but I'm happy with the results.

Larry

Oxidizer will work on brass and probably on copper though I haven't tried it.

With brass the clear coat must be removed with some other process than laser engraving as the laser will not remove it sufficiently to produce a good quality image.

I have two separate oxidizers, one for brass and the other for aluminum.

One of the ones I bought says it's for both aluminum and brass. The other just says aluminum however they seem to be the same chemical.
