Another piece of SM from my stash. It is 10 1/2" x 5" with the wall over 1/2". Finished with wipe on poly. Props to Steve Schlumpf for his help ironing out my problems with WO Poly.

It is strange to me how the designs happen when I turn. This piece, in particular, ended like it did because I wanted to keep the small knob that was along the rim (I just liked it). I also wanted to maximize the usage of the wood soooo... the design I came up with to satisfy both requirements is what you see.

Of course all comments and/or constructive criticisms are welcome.

Wow Toney - that's quite the bowl! Nice form, beautiful spalted wood and real glad you were able to save the natural edge! Seriously - nice work! Glad you figured out the WO Poly - very easy finish to use once you get the hang of it!

Beautiful Toney. Love the knob. Sometimes that's how the creative process works with wood. Midstream design changes can be very productive.

One thing I forgot to mention was how people have reacted to this piece.

I had it sitting on the bench at my business along with 2 or 3 other pieces and almost without fail anyone who saw them picked up this one first. Many mentioned how cool the NE was.

I thought that was interesting.

Great looking bowl Toney out of some beautiful wood. I can see why they would pick that one up.

That really is some nice wood and an equally nice bowl.
