I looked at the pics and breezed through some of the text...
Pretty neat and he's one handy sunuva....
We had a casting mold made 2 years ago at work for an item about 1 cubic meter and not very complex other than a non concentric bore. Just the mold was $50K.:eek:

Absolutely amazing. Especially considering how much of the material was scrap (bed frames, vacuum cleaner motors, etc). He's going to have one heck of a lathe when he's done.

Of course, I have to wonder about cost vs time. It would appear he's spent A LOT of time making this thing. Of course when he's done, he can say that he made it!

I did sand casting back in high school. Kinda cool deal. We used pop cans to melt. Took a lot of cans to get just a very small amount. And a lot of time too.
