Determine age of Craftsman 12" band saw

I have an older Craftsman band saw, model 113.248440, and I would like to know the date of manufacture. I read somewhere that it is in the serial number (SN#: 89352.MO117). Does anyone know if that's correct, and how to decipher the age from the serial number?
