LOML got a new laptop for her birthday which is our new home computer. It will sit on the kitchen counter 95% of the time rather than in the basement like the old desktop.

One thing that's bugging me and I haven't been able to find a way to change to my liking is how user switching is handled. On our old machine which was XP Home the screen saver would time out and then you'd be back at the login screen. You'd still be logged in, but you'd have to enter your password. I have this one set to do the same. However, when you just close the lid on the new computer (its an HP if it matters) you don't get prompted to log back in. On my work machnine (a Dell with XP Pro) I do. I'd like that behavior on this machine both for security and just so that its a couple steps less to access my account if I wasn't the last user.

Got to Control Panel > Power Settings > Edit Plan Settings > Advanced Power Options >

Additional Settings > Require Password on Wakeup - set to Yes

Further down the Menu

Power Button and Lid - I have Mine on Sleep and I have to sign back in.
