View Full Version : Coping Sled Recommendations?

Seeking coping sled recommendations. Have looked at Eagle and Woodhaven, but assuming there are more out there.

"General" applications and large capacity are needs at the moment. Want to be able to do various projects with it, hopefully "one size fits all", though may not be realistic.

Cabinet doors, various parts, trim pieces to templates, holding small pieces on router table (instead of threatening my fingers), etc.

Thanks!

Don,
I built the one from Shop Notes Tools n Jigs with a couple small changes.
It's been very versatile and I can't imagine needing more from one.
If you want the plan let me know and I'll make a PDF of it.

This one almost seemed like overkill when I bought it and a shop made jig worked fine. This was one of those impulse buys but I enjoy the solid feel and the added safety of this one from Infiniti.

I built one using a piece of phenolic and a couple of toggle clamps, some hard maple and a few t bolts to hold a replaceable backer block. Cost about $30, works great. I put a movable fence on a pivot point to the fence side to make angle adjustments up to 50 degrees for grooving end grain or coping miters. Probably took about 3 hours?

Take a look at Reliable Cutting Tools' CopeCrafter. It's about as high-end as I've found and one of the few ways I feel safe using my shaper when I can't use the power feeder. http://www.relcuttools.com/copecrafter.shtml

There are definitely some coping sleds to be had out there. This one was about $20: http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=40640
