1 Just too it off the truck. Didn’t need lift gate service because of my other new toy. Straight to the walk out basement door and onto the lift table.

2 Two new 3520’s in the same year. One yellow, one green.
96682

3 Very easy to assemble and level by myself with the new 1000 lb. lift table from HF. It picked up the whole assembly, headstock, tailstock and 18inch bed extension without any problem
96683

4 This paid for itself just putting the new lathe together. Wish I had had it before for some other purposes.

5 Looks like they may be off a couple of thousandths but then again maybe not – you decide. Shouldn’t make any oval pens with this.

6 Ready to make chips. If anyone would like the plans to my hi-tech tool holder, send me a PM HAHA

7 That is an out of round unbalanced 12 inch roughed out maple bowl turning at 483 RPM. The nickel IS NOT glued down. Around 500 RPM or so it starts to vibrate enough that the nickel tips over but not enough to bother turning
96687

8 Looks pretty level to me
96688

9 That is a 6 inch machinist’s level graduated to .005 inch per graduation per foot. So it looks like it is out of level by a couple of thousandths in 6 inches or .004” in a foot. The lathe is 2 foot wide so it’s out of level maybe .008”. I think I can live with that. And it’s the same at both ends so no twist. That’s the important part.
96689

10 It’s about the same end to end. I can’t get it any closer. I played with it for awhile and finally gave up. A 1/8 turn of the levelers moves it .005” to .010”

Congrats on your new 7040!! (=3520 x 2)

When I was poking around on the web looking for 3520 stuff, I noticed my searches kept returning the green one. I'd also been looking for a small farm, and web-window shopping for a tractor, so when the Deere's were coming up I thought at first that the search engines were just remembering my earlier searches. It took a while for me to figure out what was going on.

We're in the same Labor Day '08 3520B buyers club, but I think my second 3520 will take a bit longer... I'm 12 miles outside NYC -- right now I wouldn't even have a place to park it.

You really should be looking for some more lathe tools......the left side wall by your machine is nearly naked.

Thanks Frank. Just looked you up in the phone book. We can't be 2 miles apart. I'm only 2 miles up Ossian Hill.

Actually Chris there are 4 more Thompson bowl gouges on the work bench waiting for handles. And now that he has skews back in stock, I'm calling him tomorrow to oder one of those.
