What would be the best third party software to create 3D effects.

More specially a software that equalize the shades of gray so that it can be created on the laser using the 3D option.

Thanks

Ben

What is your exact aplication?

You can do it in Corel, use fountains and radial fills to shade. You have very little contorls with 3d anyway , so what I would do is do the engraving in or designing in 2 parts
You can use various shades of grey or colour to control 5 different depths , ie do the engraving on 5 levels you can control , this will give a VERY good representation of 3d
Then add in the "shaded" bits you want in FULL 3d and engrave in 3d mode. You must understand that predicting the results will also not be easy and you might have to do many test runs to get it right.
Personally I think the time it takes to originate a full 3d artwork cannot be recouped effectively and 3d engraving also needs the correct substrate for it to look good. Looks great on soft supawood or any soft dry wood , doesnt feature well in clear perspex. Worst of all is that different media will require different grey shading to represent the 3d properly, so you might have to amend the artwork if you wanna use the same thing on another media.
