Anyone ever turned loquat. It bears small yellow orange fruits in the fall, fairly tropical tree.

I picked up a few trunk and branch pieces from a large tree that came down in Gustav. Its a relative of apple and thats what the color resembles.

No pictures... My camera is dead...

I just had a small branch of it and turned it into a turkey call striker. Nice looking wood and turned well (for what I had).

Here's the picture of the striker (ignore bowl and call)....

Rob,
We used to have several loquat trees in our yard when I lived in CA (yes, I used to live in cyano-acrylate...it was during my chrysalis stage:D;)). IIRC it was strange because it bloomed in the Fall and produced fruit in the Winter through early Spring. I think our tree trunk never got bigger than about 4" in diameter.

I'm very interested to see what you make of it. If it is anything like apple you'll be in heaven. Can you tell I like turning apple?
