We had a decent storm blow through recently and the hardest hit area in the valley is about a mile north of my house. I was driving around yesterday to look at the damage (residents are still cleaning up a week later) and I came across this huge sectioned eucalyptus tree. My first thought was "shame someone didn't slab this before the city got to it". After looking it over, though, I just couldn't walk away. The next morning (this morning) I went back with my business partner (appears in the photos) and filled up the trailer to the point of two deflated tires - had to be several thousand pounds worth, 24" & 30" tall x 25" radius each - and hauled it back to the shop. There is a lot of checking, but I think these might wind up as roughsawn table bases or similar - not sure yet. At any rate, you can see in the pictures what I took and what I left behind, so if there are any valley residents who would like to get a hold of some, PM me and I'll give you the address. Beneath the pile of leaves in the distance there is twice the amount of what I left on the ground in the foreground, just to give you an idea of what's left.

BTW
I thought the name "Stump" on the election poster across the street was somewhat amusing given the situation.
