Need help with joiner, what to buy

I had my heart set on a joiner/plainer combo machine but after looking at the jet and the flaws gave up on that, went to buy a Hammer and that didn't work out. The Mini Max is getting out of my price range.


What else can I get? Size is important I am in a gurage. I want something bigger than a 6" but not to long, again I am in a gurage. A spiral head would also be nice. Any sugestions?

It sounds like you don't have a planer. If not, buy a 20" planer with a spiral head and build a planer sled...

If you have a planer, omit step one above...
