Always curious to know more about those that post here. Where did you attend school? School of hard knocks counts as well.

I graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a 4 year degree then attended the buisness school(of UC) for another 2 years.

AAS - Industrial Chemical Technology, Ferris State University 1980
BS - Production MGT w/Minor in Mechanical Engineering - Ferris State University 1982

Did the architecture thing, decided I didn't want to bend over a board for the rest of my life, went summers and got the Chem Tech degree but job offers out of school were barely 10k a year so I went back and got the 4 year degree.. went to work for HeathKit in 82 -- spent a lot of time making and playing with PC's, then a supervisor for a automotive test equip company and did CNC PGM, then on to QC in a tape company with more PLC and finally into IT Full time in 1990 .. now a hired gun consultant & troubleshooter for IBM & Cisco equipment with an IBM Business partner.. funny how it all works out.

HS--inaugural class member of a residential G/T HS in Indiana, graduated May 23, 1992

Spent 3.5 years at Purdue University in West Lafayette figuring out that I wasn't getting anywhere and wasn't enjoying getting there (and still had at least 2 more years to go). Spent time in the schools of Electrical Engineering and Industrial Management.

Now I'm a self-employed contractor with no degrees, and only the regret that I spent as much time (and money!) in college as I did....

Jason,

What you were saying about your college career certainly echoes my feelings about my first one. It's too bad kids are rushed into it (would almost be better if there were some kind of civilian mandatory service to expose them to the world before they have to try to make these kinds of decisions).

I was something like 29 before I settled into a real "career" groove. And even after that, I bounced around between software development, management, sales and marketing for a bunch of years.

High school grad with regents degree in science and math. Directly to the Coast Guard where i learnde to operate high pressure Boilers. From there to the insurance industry as a commissioned National Board Inspector. All suring this time nites at Community college but no degree. I do not recommend that approach for anyone. Put my daughter thru Marist College and the son went the IBEW apprentist route and is now a journeman Electriction.
HKU is a tough place to get a degree from and I'm still working on it.
I also am more than half way finished getting my CPCU and AU which is insurance industry crap.

Wes,

I did my doctorate at Northwestern but lived in downtown Chicago proper. I didn't see much of Evanston other than a bit of the downtown area within walking distance of the campus. Never did go to D&D finer foods, that I can recall. My wife was at dental school at UIC, hence why we were living downtown....driving is second nature to me. She abhores a commute longer than 5 or 10 minutes.
