I'm just wondering...do any of you have a LN [or Stanley] No.1, and what do you use it for?

When you get to anything small then a No.3 I think for woodworking you might as well get a block planes IMHO

I've got a Stanley #1, and when my bride found out how much it was worth, she immediately said "its mine" and now it sits on the mantle in the family room. She also thinks its 'cute' too.

Ken:

I purchased the #1 for my 6year old son. It fits his hand perfectly. Also, I have the limited edition #1 made by TLN to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Stanley Tool company. That is on display in my home office.

cheers,

Gordon

There are times when the grain gets twisty that I find it useful.
It is narrower than most of my block planes.
With handles at both ends, it is easier to control than most block planes.

just my 2¢,
