Norm's Tall Case Clock????????????

Guys,this fall I will tackle Norm's Tall Case Clock.If you have built this,can you give me some pointers, such as any design changes,choice of material,finish,or what you would do different?I would like to use quarter sawed white oak and finish it by fuming.After the fuming,should I put on a clear coat? This will be my first clock,so the less mistakes I make the more I will enjoy the process.If you have pics of your Tall Case Clock,please include it.Thanks again Carroll
