Old Sears Model 113.248322 12" Band Saw

My wife bought me one of these saws for $20.00, and I figured what the heck. My problem now (this being my first band saw) is I have no idea how long the blade is, and if I can even get replacement parts (like guide blocks) or newer replacement guides. Does anyone out there have any info on this saw?? The owners manual is less than helpful as far as the size of blades, and I figure that by now any replacemtn parts from Sears may be long gone.

Any info is appreciated.

blade size in inches is (12*pi) + (2 * distance between wheel shafts in inches).

Unless it's missing something, I'd use it as-is to start with.

My old Sears 12" ran an 80" blade. Still available, parts too. Sears just makes it very hard to get to the info to select the part you want. I don't know why. The owner's manual should give you an exploded view with a parts list and their part numbers.

If you go to the Sears site, look down the left hand side for "parts" and click there, you will get a screen where you can enter the part # and get a price and order it.

Set the tension near the middle and loop a soft wire around the wheels to get an approximate length for the blade. Most are pretty standard, so it should match some common size.

Congrats on the shop addition. After you determine the length using one of the methods suggested earlier, don't bother ordering the blade from Sears. Call a bandsaw blade supplier like Suffolk Machinery and tell them what length you need. They should also be able to offer suggestions for the blade type based on your intended use. (Oh, and no affiliation with Suffolk.)

Brian, I went to Sears web and looked up model number.
Blade is 80inch. Example part# 26595 4PTI is $6.99.
All their blades for this saw is $6.99.
I'd get just one to check the saw out.
