I need a new blade for a 10" sliding miter saw (Milwaukee). Any suggestions? Also I always get confused -- what hook angle do I want? I would rather not have a thin kerf, if that's possible.

Joel - Something with a low to negative hook is preferable for SCMS....< 10° should be fine. The Freud LU80R010 will have an excellent fine cut, as will the Infinity Ultrasmooth, or Forrest Duraline if that's what you're looking for. Choose fewer teeth for general purpose work. Any suitable models from Ridge Carbide, CMT, Amana, or Systimatic should also be good choices.

I just saw some info you may be interested on deals on Freud blades at Sears in the Deals section of this site. Freud makes some excellent blades, some specifically for SCMS.

No, mine is 5 years old. Solid saw.

I run a 12" Freud 72 T blade they make especially for SCMS's, Joel. I ran thier 10" before I sold it to get the 12", I think Scott Spence mentioned it. It has a 5* negative hook which is good on a slider. You can run a standard blade on a CMS but the negative hook is recommended on a SCMS.

Good luck with whatever you purchase...
