I have searched for a program that will index ALL the images contained on an entire hard drive (preferably a network fileshare), regardless of type, and display a thumbnail if at all possible (depending on the file type).

I can find programs that make great claims, and only index, jpg, bmp and gif's. I have found a couple that claim to handle .eps and .ai files as well, but only with *very* buggy public domain add-ons.

I don't mind paying for something that actually works, but I really do mind continually trying to clean off the leftover remnants of shareware (and it always leaves something behind in the uninstall) after being duped yet again by hyperbole of non-existent functionality.

Does anyone know for certain, of a program that can index the majority of image types? Mac or PC, doesn't matter to me, as long as it works.

Thanks!
David

Have a look at Rom Cat on this site. Not sure it'll do the job but it works with Corel and it's free.

ST Thumbnails Explorer

This is the one I use. It gets the ai, eps, jpg, tif, blah blah blah

30 day trial and a massive $29.95 for a single user licence. Shockingly expensive

Early versions of Illustrator did not have embeded previews. Without these, catalog software will not be able to display them.

On a Mac, try Extensis Portfolio. A "little" more at $199.

I've been using this one for a few years now and haven't seen anything it can't handle. The formats it can do page is here. Note... It currently can't handle Corel X4 thumbnails.
